Mushrooms have a very rich history and for at least 4,000 years, medicine has discovered many uses for reishi. People at that time believed that the mushrooms enhanced fertility or aided weight loss. In ancient times, reishi was sought after by almost all travellers as it was believed to have magical powers. They were not deterred by the fact that the mushroom could only be found in very remote parts of the world. Every king wanted to own this mushroom, and local poets wrote works starring reishi - such information is found in Chinese records from the 16th century.
